Language skill testing

AAC Global's written and oral language tests are designed to ensure that the recommended training solution will properly suit your needs. The general language proficiency of the students is assessed on a 6-band scale (A/A1–C2) before the training. The scale is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. You may also find skill level testing appropriate for recruitment purposes.

Written Skills

AAC offers standardized pre-training written tests in several languages. Native speakers of Finnish or Swedish can test their English skills online. For other languages we use paper tests in pdf-format (See list below) which you can print and complete by hand. The written test takes an average of 1.5 hours to complete and costs EUR 34 + VAT. The oral test takes approx. 20 minutes and costs EUR 50 + VAT.

Oral Skills

Standardized pre-training oral testing can be arranged in all training languages. The tests are carried out as interviews face-to-face, over the phone or with the aid of Internet-based communication tools.

AAC'S 6-band level scale

AAC’s level scale is used for defining the level of the students' language skills, primarily for training purposes. It is also used for language skill assessment and defining the effects of the training.

This level scale is based on the European 6-band level scale. The Common European Framework (CEF) describes different levels of communication skills in foreign languages in order to achieve greater unity of definition, make it easier to compare between different examinations and facilitate the mobility of labor in Europe. The definitions of the framework serve language learners as well as those producing materials, courses and tests. Based on CEF interpretations, different scales have been created for the use of teachers, trainers, course and test designers and institutions offering language training services. The scale we use is AAC's interpretation of the framework.

Needs assessment

Partnership with a customer always begins with a charting of the language and communications needs that are important to the customer's business and strategy. The results help us recommend suitable training solutions for different groups, for example. To ensure a focus on the most useful skills, we are ready to use the company's own core terminology in the training sessions.

We prepare individual needs analyses, free of charge, which help each employee chart his/her own language training needs and provide them with personal recommendations for a training solution.
